Somatic Therapy (Online)
Somatic Therapy takes place online via zoom and is a body-centered therapy and method of self-enquiry which guides us in discovering more deeply who we truly are.
Somatic Therapy is rooted in the connection between our body and mind. Our body carries the imprints of past experiences, belief systems and emotions and when we have experienced stress or trauma, these imprints get held as tensions or holding patterns in the body.
My approach to Somatic Therapy combines Hakomi Therapy, embodied self-enquiry and somatic practices. Working from a gentle and trauma-informed approach, we can become aware of how self-limiting beliefs narrow our perspective on our life and create discomfort or pain in our body and explore ways to support these self-restricting beliefs or tensions to unravel or release back to a sense of safety and wholeness.
Connecting with our body and developing our interoception (our capacity to be aware of our bodily sensations), provides a gateway into increased self-awareness, more aware of how we are feeling and being able to identify our needs and process our emotions as well as understanding our boundaries which then allows us to live a more embodied and authentic life. We also learn how to build our resources and express our joy, vitality and creativity in the world. My intention in my work is to hold a space that allows others to experience a feeling of safety so that parts of ourselves that may have felt alone or exiled can be integrated back into a sense of belonging.

What does a Somatic Therapy session look like?
Initially, we sit down for a consultation to get more of a background and sense of what your needs are for our work together. We then explore what would be the most helpful approach to support you in reaching your intentions. In the Somatic Therapy session, I invite clients into a space where they can feel, understand and release tensions in the body and explore core beliefs and feelings that may be holding the body in particular tension patterns.
Somatic Therapy is very much a collaborative process in supporting you in accessing your own self-healing capacities and listening more deeply to your own wisdom and intuition within your body. Together, we discover the resources needed to resolve trauma, increase resilience to stress and deepen the connection to self and the relationships we have in our lives.
Who can benefit from Online Somatic Therapy?
Somatic Therapy is for those who are interested in deepening their connection to themselves and their body as well as those who are looking to live a more aligned and soul-led path. This somatic work supports people who are dealing with stress, trauma or difficult emotions such as anxiety, depression or low self-esteem as well as supporting those who are experiencing physical pain or mobility issues. Somatic Therapy can support us in developing a deeper capacity to gain a stronger felt sense awareness of our body/mind while also developing a closer relationship to our body and all parts of ourselves.
If we allow ourselves to acknowledge our thoughts and sensations, in other words let them have their natural flow, they will peak, then begin to diminish and resolve.
